Malabar Riverhill

Malabar Riverhill is only open from March through to October

Malabar at Riverhill Himalayan Gardens is a fabulous example of local collaboration, when two family businesses in neighbouring villages join forces and create something special. Hosted by the Rogers family who own (and still live in) the house and gardens, Malabar first opened its doors here in March 2023 and we have loved every minute.

The seating inside the beautiful café is only matched by the large outdoor terrace which overlooks the stunning gardens.

You do not have to pay if you are only coming in for coffee; just let the ticket office know and they’ll let you in.

GOOD TO KNOW:

PARKING: There is free car parking in the main car park at the top of the hill, just inside the entrance to the gardens.

DISABLED ACCESS: There is free disabled parking directly in front of the main house. The short walk to the café is flat, but on a gravel surface. There are accessible toilets on the terrace outside the café.

BABY CHANGING FACILITIES: available in the disabled toilet.

PAYMENT: unfortunately we do not accept cash payments at Riverhill (see FAQs below).

FAQs

  • Yes and no! We do not accept cash at our Riverhill site, largely due to the remote location. Not only does it significantly increase the cost of our insurance if cash were to be kept on site, but also limits our access to banking facilities.

    However, we DO accept both cash and card payments at our shops in Sevenoaks and Riverhead.

  • Our shops in Sevenoaks High Street and Riverhead are open 7 days a week, closing at 5pm every day. We open at 7.30am on Saturdays and week days, 8.30am on Sundays.

    Malabar at Riverhill Himlayan Gardens is open Wednesday to Sunday and every bank holiday, from 10am to 5pm. We are closed during the winter, from November to mid-March. Please check the Riverhill Himalayan Gardens website for details.
